Foulke's actions show students a low priority
It amazes me that Undergraduate Student Government (USG) President Galen Foulke has the nerve to complain about USG ("UPUA would represent true views of PSU students," Feb. 28). He and his followers claim to represent the students, and yet he has done nothing but thwart existing rules and run to the administration to think up ways to get around USG. As USG president, it is Foulke's job to represent the students. However, as a member of the Board of Trustees, it's also his duty to look out for "students, faculty, staff and alumni." What happens when the interests of the students and the interests of faculty, staff and alumni don't match up? Last year, he managed to scrounge up only a few people to go to Harrisburg and this year he didn't even show up to the USG's own rally outside of Old Main. He has also decided to play big brother to all Penn State students. Not only will he not disclose where the $3,000 obtained by his group, Students for Real Advocacy, came from, he has also held private meetings in which he has kicked out dissenters. Perhaps Foulke needs to be reminded that the Penn State student body doesn't need any more "help" from a university administration that has repeatedly taken away its student representation.
