Plotts' work benefits on-campus post office
I was disappointed to learn that Don Plotts has been removed from the University Park Post Office ("Mail Guys keep post office lively," March 3). Once again, the decision-makers at the United States Postal Service have shown they are out of touch with the needs of the Penn State community. The well-worn argument that the volume of mail does not support the need for two clerks is ludicrous. Senior postal management must realize the unique workload this office processes; high volume periods occur during breaks between classes, and the line can stretch out the door during the always-busy lunch hour. At a time when the Postal Service is struggling to portray a positive image, the enthusiasm, dedication and unmatchable level of service that the folks at the University Park Post Office bring to their job should be celebrated, not denigrated. I add my voice to the chorus of others calling for the immediate reinstatement of Plotts to his rightful place behind the counter at the University Park Post Office. John Lawrence
