Although I think providing incentives to those who drive hybrid vehicles is a step in the right direction, an incentive program directed to those who car pool would be a better idea and potentially an idea that could solve another problem at Penn State -- parking ("Eco-Action lobbies for hybrid car incentives," Feb. 24).
Yes, hybrid vehicles are more fuel-efficient. A gas-powered vehicle, however, is more efficient if it is loaded to capacity than a single-passenger hybrid vehicle. The university should reward those who car pool with prime parking spots in garages by the HUB and Eisenhower Auditorium.
