Seminar provides resources for sexual assault victims

I attended the One in Four seminar on Monday evening thinking it would be like most sexual assault seminars ("Group offers men education on rape," Feb. 28). But it was far from it.

The theme of the seminar, "How to Help a Sexual Assault Survivor: What Men Can Do" was extremely helpful in understanding what a rape survivor may go through. On top of the actual rape or sexual assault, a victim may here comments such as, "How could you let this happen?" or "Why didn't you fight back?" The actual event may only be part of the pain. This seminar explained what should be said and how to act to help a victim start to recover. I would highly recommend attendance to any man just seeking tips on how to help a victim of rape. I think the university should go a step further and offer a course on how to help victims of any crimes. With education, we can all help victims take a step back to normal.
