Noel's exhibit features photographs she took at the Eastern State Penitentiary. All of these black and white photographs were taken with a 35mm, non-digital camera.
Noel said the subject matter of her photographs covers a wide array of subjects.
"I have taken pictures of landscapes, trees and water scenes," Noel said. "I photograph to evoke emotion. It is a filling experience for me."
Jacqueline's mother, Janet Noel, said her daughter developed an interest in photography early.
"She has always loved photography," Janet Noel said. "As
a child, we bought her a
Barbie camera and a children's video about photography. She has always been a photography nut."
Janet Noel said she has watched her daughter's work improve throughout the years.
"She has grown, and her talent has come out," Janet Noel said. "Her work is out there, a lot of her pictures have been published."
Jacqueline Noel said she hopes to eventually end up in the realm of fashion photography and said she may want to attend graduate school to pursue the field.
"I really want to get my feet wet in fashion photography," she said. "I just love fashion photography."
Janet Noel has similar ambitions for her daughter and said she thinks Jacqueline would do great in this field of work.
"I think she will be wonderful; she has a real sense of fashion," Janet Noel said.
Jacqueline Noel got her sense for fashion from her grandmother, who was a master seamstress, she said.
"She has grown up around fashion and creativity," Janet Noel said. "She has a great sense of what makes women beautiful and she is great at making people look better than they really do."
Lindsey Tapper (senior-photography) who's own work was featured in the gallery last week, met Jacqueline Noel last year when the two had a photography class together.
"Jacqueline has a great eye for composition," Tapper said. "She works so hard and she takes beautiful pictures."
Tapper said she respects Noel's artwork.
"She ends up making something beautiful out of something you wouldn't consider beautiful," Tapper said.
Noel's artwork will be on display through Sunday. She said she is really excited about the show at the Patterson gallery and tonight's reception.
There will be a raffle at the event, and the winner will receive a signed and framed 35mm photographic print of his or her choice from the gallery.
Micaela Amato, professor of painting and drawing, examines the artwork in the Patterson Building.
