NEWS

Instead of rubbing on suntan lotion and lying on a sandy beach, campus singers are hitting the road and singing across the country over spring break.

Many students text message friends in class just to make it through those 50 minutes, but it might be more than just their grades that are suffering. Their thumbs might be suffering, too.

Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate approved three deputy commissioners to fill the remaining vacancies in the elections commission at last night's Senate meeting.

Student killed; body found

The Web site hosting yesterday's referendum on student representation resulted in several complaints from students, including the restricted access of those not currently attending University Park campus.

Dating on the college scene can be difficult, and former Daily Show correspondent Mo Rocca is trying to make it easier for students by warning them about a specific group of people who ruin relationships -- the gamekillers.

HARRISBURG -- Penn State President Graham Spanier testified to the state Senate Appropriations committee yesterday alongside leaders of Pennsylvania's other state-related universities in a collective effort to increase the amount of state funding each will get for the 2006-2007 academic year.

Last night was the premiere episode of the long-awaited 17th season of The Real World: Key West and the introduction of Penn State alumnus John Devenanzio to the MTV audience.

SPORTS

After suffering a defeat in their final game before heading to nationals, the Penn State ACHA Division I Icers went back to the basics.

Six weeks ago, Penn State lost a game it thought it should've won. More than one month later, the sting of the Iowa loss is still fresh in the Nittany Lions' minds.

Everyone remembers the shot, the Travis Parker putback with 8.5 seconds left, the kind of shot you think you can force in or out of the basket if you lean hard enough.

The dream for Brittany Remmey will most likely end just as quietly as it did the first time around. There will be no buzzer beater. The walk-on guard won't have some awe-inspiring assist.

Playing in the No. 8 vs. No 9 seeded game, both Wisconsin and the Penn State women's basketball teams can count on seeing No. 1-seed Ohio State, along with unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection and conference player of the year Jessica Davenport, in the second round.

As EIVA conference play wears on, some familiarity begins to form between each team.

ARTS
Two out-of-towner acts will crash Roustabout! this week.

Pollution, erosion and watersheds are all common scientific topics, but many people would probably not associate Tony Hawk with earth and mineral science.

Allen Street Grill, 100 W. College Ave., will feature Dominick Swentosky (231-4745).
