Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate approved three deputy commissioners to fill the remaining vacancies in the elections commission at last night's Senate meeting.
Head Elections Commissioner David Gelpi presented Thomas Hudson and Bridget Daly as co-deputy commissioners for candidacy and campaigning and Yair Inspektor as elections commission special council.
"My concern is making sure it runs fairly," Daly said.
She and Hudson agreed that they want to ensure the integrity of the upcoming USG elections, which will be held on March 29.
Candidate packets are currently available to be picked up in 333 and 223 HUB-Robeson Center.
The election candidates are currently collecting the required signatures and will be able to begin campaigning on March 13.
Gelpi said that with all of the controversy over the future of student representation, students should put more focus on the USG elections.
"If you want to change it, come pick up a packet," he said.
Gelpi said the student government has been working well since the 1960s and problems began to surface only in the past two years.
Senate also debated two pieces of legislation, both of which were postponed.
Senators are now researching and considering changing the contract between the university and the Student Travel Agency (STA), and the possibility of making the HUB a free-speech zone for individual students.
Both matters will be brought up at the March 14 meeting.
Also at last night's meeting, Alexander Goodstein (freshman-information sciences and technology) was appointed as West Halls senator.
