Smoking bans benefit employees, customers
Use some logic. Second-hand smoke is dangerous, and if you don't know this by now, you are in serious denial ("Reducing rights of smokers limits freedom for everyone," Feb. 23). It is dangerous, especially to asthmatics and employees of bars who have no choice other than quit their jobs to avoid smokers. I personally hope that no one believes smokers should be indulged while employees should be forced to lose their job or their health. The real underlying issue, as with everything, is about losing business. No bar would lose business as long as the law mandates all bars must be smoke-free. Nonsmokers win, bar employees win, bars win and even smokers win, albeit against their will, because they are forced to be healthy. Does this seem like a no-brainer to anyone else? Of course, sorry smokers, I can't see your logic because I didn't voluntarily addict myself to carcinogens. Claire McManus
