If you thought Ben Praster's comment about turfgrass science was degrading, then you missed the point ("Turfgrass program demands rigorous work from students," Feb. 23).
He chose a major that sounded silly, not one with which he had any real problem. It's more of an off-hand comment than anything else.
While Kyle Slaton made some good points about being a turfgrass science major, it still brings to mind someone who mows and waters grass for a living so that a handful of rich guys can hit a tiny ball.
That doesn't sound good when you're trying to pick a girl up at a bar. And that was Praster's point.
