Lesson can be taken from recent murder of student
It is absolutely appalling that these types of violent crimes happen to innocent people in this normally peaceful college town ("Man faces first-degree murder charge," Feb. 22). District Attorney Michael Madeira needs to use this case to set an example for people who plan on leaving their homes to socialize with a weapon in their possession. If found guilty, Josephy Ventura should be put in a stockade on Old Main lawn while the flag flies at half staff in memory of Michael Donahue. It is very apparent how much effort the justice system puts into controlling underage drinking and other alcohol-related offenses. It would be nice to see officials actually put as much effort into convicting a person who perpetrated such a horrible crime against another individual. Geoff Hesselton
