Let's face it: Most of us college students aren't motivated enough to get to the White Building every day. Well, not to fret ladies and adventuresome gents. There is a sexy and seductive workout video that is sure to keep your interest, get your stomach tight and tone your thighs in time for spring break: Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease.
I know what you're thinking. Carmen Electra? What is she famous for, really? And what makes her an authority on working out? She was blessed with a naturally amazing body and good looks. Carmen is a girl other women love to hate. (OK, so we've never met her. Let's just be superficial for now.) She probably sprung from the womb in full makeup, sporting a cheerleader-like ponytail high atop her head and wearing designer baby high heels.
My bitter tangent aside, the sarcasm is justifiable; Carmen is basically famous for taking off her clothes. She's hot and gets paid for it. But she wasn't always the sex symbol she is today. Carmen dated Prince, landed the Baywatch gig and failed to fill Jenny McCarthy's clunky, '90s heels on MTV's Singled Out. Let's not forget her brief marriage to basketball player Dennis Rodman. (I think everyone saw that breakup coming. She, wearing heels, came up to his torso.) But after that, she pretty much faded into oblivion until she re-emerged as all good actresses/signers/dancers do -- on reality television, of course. Carmen dazzled us every day while MTV cameras recorded her wedding plans to Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro on 'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave.
Well, I think it was somewhere between Baywatch and marrying Navarro that Ms. Electra found the perfect exercise that was both enjoyable and sexy: stripping.
Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease, originally released in 2003, includes five DVDs that start slowly, with easy routines and sexy stretching, and get more advanced as they move along, each being dedicated to a new workout or spectacular stripper skill.
These tapes combine slow, isolated movements with stretching and dancing. Once you learn the specified routine, it is fun and entertaining to do. You use and stretch new muscles with little effort. Your mind is concentrated on the dance and energy rather than the actual exercise.
The seemingly promiscuous and exciting Carmen encourages you to touch your body, be confident and make the routine your own. OK, so it's a little awkward to think about trying to be sexy while working out. But it really does help you to keep your mind off what you're doing. The music and movements keep you energized and focused on having fun.
There are many different aspects of the routines that will leave you tired, sore and sweaty, but still seductive, of course. Body rolls work your waist and stomach, and lunges and ballet movements tone your thighs and butt. It really is a workout for the whole body.
However, if you are looking for a light workout or are new to exercising regularly, this aerobic striptease may also be for you. It is easily tweaked to fit any athletic or flexibility level. There are many alternatives to the more advanced stretches and moves that Carmen does in the video, which are demonstrated by one of the girls in the background.
After mastering all five DVDs, you will have learned the art of the striptease, laws of the lap dance and the excitement of role-play, all while exercising and toning your body. Just because the gym may not be for you doesn't mean you have to be left out of the exercise loop. You just need to find the workout that best suits you.
