I graduated from Penn State in 1968, and it would be another 18 years before the average Interfraternity Council/Penhellenic Dance Marathon (Thon) 2006 participant was born. In 1968, Thon didn't exist and personal computers were decades in the future. This past weekend I watched Thon by webcast and, once again, was filled with Penn State pride ("Thon shatters previous record," Feb. 20). The participants, organizers and supporters were all amazing. With some luck and hard work, perhaps a 2006 graduate of Penn State can write to The Daily Collegian 40 years from now about the time when Penn Staters gathered to raise money for children with a now curable disease: cancer. Congratulations on a job well done.
