Schock said the group is a rock band that is not afraid to take chances.
"It's a real rock band, and we experiment a little," Schock said. "I think we push the edge a little bit. We just try to have fun. We're an energetic, melodic, guitar-driven band."
Schock said there are a few artists that he uses as inspiration.
"I really like Silverchair -- Daniel Johns is amazing," Schock said. "Stone Temple Pilots, Juliana Theory -- they are my favorites."
As far as live performances are concerned, Schock said, the band just wants to have a good time and hopes that the audience goes home with something.
"First we just like to have a lot of fun," Schock said. "We want that to go through to the audience. We want them to walk out of there feeling good to hear something new."
Schock said that Not Alone does not tour nationally; instead, the band focuses its travels throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
Even though the band is not recognized on a national level, it hopes to get a record deal and continue to write music.
Another band visiting the Crowbar tonight is Lewistown act Solaris. Lead singer Ryan Russler said that Solaris plays at the Crowbar about once a month and that the crowds there always gives Solaris a warm welcome.
"It's basically our favorite place," Russler said. "It's our home club. They treat us really well there. The shows always go really well."
Solaris has been together for a while; however, the band members in the group assembled at present hasn't been together that long.
"The band has been together for about three years," Russler said. "But the band we have now has been together for about a year and a half."
Like Not Alone, Russler said, they follow the rock genre and have been trying to be as creative as possible.
"We're just hard rock basically," Russler said. "Now, though, we're kind of doing our own thing."
Russler said there's nothing like a live performance.
"It's just the energy -- what you get off of the audience," he said. "It's the coolest thing about playing in a band."
Chad Swigart, one of two guitarists in Solaris, said the band is unique because of the relationships between the members.
"It's different and unique because we've always had many members," Swigart said. "But we've always been friends. Sometimes people get opportunities to play with other people, but this is a friend thing. I really like the music we make." Swigart said the music they make is hard rock, but they mix it up.
"Hard rock, but definitely metal mixed with melodic tones to it," Swigart said. "It's kind of like deaf tones mixed with some guitar screams."
Swigart sais Solaris has played with both bands before tonight's performance.
"We've played with Watson and the Shark at the Battle of the Bands ... and Not Alone two or three times before -- either at the Crowbar or elsewhere," he said.
