Annual 'Kiss-OUT' event not worth news coverage
Once again, The Daily Collegian felt the need to share its affection for the gay community with the large picture and coverage of the Kiss-OUT event ("Gay couples fight for rights with a kiss," Feb. 15). Even in today's continuously left media, most other papers wouldn't consider printing such a picture. Isn't there anything in the world more newsworthy? The event was intended to show how lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender couples are restricted from displaying their affection publicly. Apparently these couples are somehow constrained from such displays while heterosexual couples are not. If this is the case, then how is it that the Kiss-OUT event was even "allowed" at all and received more coverage by the Collegian than any heterosexual Valentine's Day event? And if "it's incredibly hard for [gays] to kiss their significant other," then perhaps they should consider why they choose that lifestyle at all. Esmond Crooke
