Administration now allows sexual orientation biases
By ubiquitously posting and priding in its policy on non-discrimination and harassment that "The Pennsylvania State University is committed to the [non-discrimination and harassment] policy," Penn State administrators have abhorrently lied. According to the brief filed on Feb. 9, Penn State is de-legitimizing its own non-discrimination policy in an attempt to escape blame in the lawsuit filed against the university by Jen Harris ("Arguments filed in case," Feb. 10). They argue the non-discrimination policy is not a contract and holds no legal ground, because federal and state policies permit discrimination based on sexual orientation. I think Penn State's stand is unethical and immoral. Further, I cannot possibly respect an institution that attempts to escape blame by discrediting the policies it takes pride in publicizing. Oh yes, congratulations. You may now fire your employees who are gay -- everyone else in Penn State's non-discrimination policy is safe by federal and state mandate. Eric Patridge
