Greeks hurt rather than help rest of university community
All I have to say to Adam Nygaard in response to his letter, "PSU students benefit from presence of greek groups," Feb. 9, is are you kidding? None of your reasons for calling the greek community this school's "backbone" make any sense. How does having a larger Homecoming parade benefit the students exactly? How about Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon? Last time I checked, the money raised went to children suffering from cancer, not the student body. And as far as helping the housing shortage, fraternities could help even more by vacating those prime downtown real estate properties so more student apartment buildings could be developed. I will give greeks credit for one thing -- their "social functions" provided an excellent place to drink for free before I could get into the bars. Jenna Skovrinskie
