In my estimation, the new Geisinger Medical Center will help a great number of people who aren't getting what they need in their local hospitals ("Geisinger Medical Center: Competition between facilities will benefit area," Feb. 10).
I don't claim to know everything, actually far from it, but I have experienced a lot of failed attempts to help people I love dearly in my area. From what I can tell, regional health centers are the way to go. It prevents the well-publicized "doctor shopping" practices by people that happens in every city, county, state and country, for that matter.
