Greeks do not compose entire university lifeline

Greg Miller's letter is full of bad arguments and statements that make non-greeks dislike the greek system, ("Ban on Jell-O wrestling ends fun for fraternities," Feb. 3). Although I'm against the Jell-O wrestling ban, your logic is flawed. Jell-O wrestling is pure entertainment and so is watching strippers. Women are not forced to wrestle and strippers are not forced to strip. Also, many people would argue with you about how Jell-O wrestling degrades women. Women may enjoy it, but that doesn't mean it can't also be degrading. The argument you should have made is this policy interferes with your personal freedoms of speech and expression.

You also stated, "Penn State is trying to ruin the greek system, which is the lifeline of this school." I'm not in the position to debate Penn State's "attempt" to ruin the greek system, but I do wish to discuss your lifeline comment. The greek system is indeed a part of the overall over social fabric but, according to Penn State, only about 12 percent of students are involved in the greek system. How can 12 percent of the population be the "lifeline"? I suppose the 88 percent of us sit at home and do nothing. Thanks for making the divide between greeks and non-greeks larger.
