News in brief

2 arrested for drugs appear in court Two people arrested in a September drug sweep that led to 21 arrests appeared before District Justice Daniel Hoffman for their preliminary hearings yesterday at the Centre County Courthouse.

Juliya Slashchev, 19, of State College, continued her hearing. She is charged with delivering cocaine. Frank Stubbe, 20, of State College, waived his hearing. He is charged with delivering marijuana.

Former PSU worker continues hearing

Clinton Teeter, 26, of Port Matilda, who police say stole $8,000 worth of property from Penn State to obtain heroin, continued his preliminary hearing yesterday.

He was arrested on 23 counts of burglary, 23 counts of theft by unlawful taking, 23 counts of receiving stolen property and 22 counts of possessing instruments of a crime, according to a Penn State University Police press release. Teeter is accused of accessing various buildings using a key he obtained while he was a Penn State employee in the wage-payroll department, according to court documents. He allegedly stole property from Rec Hall on 13 different occasions, according to court documents.

Hearings held for four vehicle break-ins

Four State College residents who were arrested on charges related to several vehicle break-ins faced their preliminary hearings yesterday.

Nicholas Schreiner, 18, who is charged with 17 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, 17 counts of receiving stolen property and one count of criminal conspiracy, waived his hearing.

Melissa Colby, 22, also waived her preliminary hearing. She is charged with 11 counts of receiving stolen property, one count of theft from a motor vehicle and one count of criminal conspiracy.

Paul C. Johnson, 18, who is charged with 15 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, 15 counts of receiving stolen property and one count of criminal conspiracy, waived two of his hearings, while the other two hearings were bound over for trial.

Christopher Riddle-Hatcher, 19, waived his hearing. He is charged with 17 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, 17 counts of receiving stolen property and one count of criminal conspiracy.

The stolen items include wallets, cameras, cell phones, laptop computers, CD players, a gun and other items from the inside of the vehicles.
