Greek students not lifeline to PSU, surrounding areas
In response to Greg Miller's letter, "Ban on Jell-O wrestling ends fun for fraternities," Feb. 3, I have a few points of contention. Calling the greek system "the lifeline of this school" is a slap in the face to all students who choose not to join a fraternity or sorority, which, last I checked, is a majority of the students. Just because a group of students choose to pay an exorbitant sum to join an organization so they can wear some greek letters does not make them a "lifeline" to a school, community or anything else. There are hundreds of non-greek organizations that do plenty for Penn State, the students and the community. There are thousands of students who find Penn State to be a fulfilling experience without joining a fraternity or sorority. When we say, "We are Penn State," the "we" does not refer to just the greek students, it refers to everyone. The lifeline to Penn State is the entire student body, not just a small minority.
