Adding new board to UPAC would benefit student body

I wasn't at all surprised that Young Americans for Freedom Chairwoman (YAF) Shauna Moser would be worried that the University Park Allocation Committee (UPAC) would lose some of its power, ("Students express doubt in new board," Feb. 3).

Last Undergraduate Student Government (USG) election season, members of YAF and the College Republicans flooded the ballots for UPAC and USG positions. I cannot say the effects of their reign have been visible, but I doubt a club would have their members take over student government without an agenda in hand. Thus, it would please me greatly to see an independent board assist with the allocation of funds since the effects of an ideologically skewed panel could greatly harm public discourse on campus.
