Local police check Hooters for bomb

The State College Police Department responded to a request by management to check Hooters Restaurant, 538 E. College Ave., for the possibility of a bomb in the restaurant yesterday morning. Police said they checked the premises at about 11 a.m. and found nothing.

Several Hooters Restaurants nationwide have recently received written bomb threats through the mail, State College Hooters owner Jeff Hass said. He said the local restaurant had not received a threat, but as a precautionary measure he requested the police to check the area.
