MP3 players allow students to wind down after classes
I personally think the author of "MP3 players cause students to miss out on life," Jan. 27, is taking major claims of today's digital music users way too far. Although I will not deny the fact I see iPod ear buds everywhere, claiming that students "think it is necessary to wear ear buds 24/7" is a slap in the face. Students at Penn State don't own iPods or any other music devices to try to make a statement, but we do it to stay sane. I don't know how the author of the column has the time to smell the roses while living in today's minute-to-minute world. Not all of us can have the seemingly perfect life to enjoy "drunken chants," as most of us carry a full-time job, 19-credit schedule and various student activities. So yes, if I take a minute of my time to jam to my favorite song in between my four-hour lab and six-credit math course, I am ever so guilty of being a "glazed over" drone. Robert Newcomb
