After reading Erin McCracken's column, "MP3 players cause students to miss out on life," Jan. 27, I felt compelled to respond and back her up 100 percent.
Back in the dark ages when I was an undergraduate in the late '90s and early '00s, iPods didn't exist and cell phones where just becoming a necessity. This allowed me to do and enjoy every aspect of Penn State around campus that others tend to overlook. I would love to go back for one weekday and walk around -- to see the Willard Pracher in his red hoodie debating with students; to hear the sounds of the Old Main chimes; to drink a Creamery milkshake on my way home from class; to randomly run into old friends on campus; to sit in the HUB during lunchtime, and to do The Daily Collegian crossword.
Believe me, I love my iPod and music as much as the next person, but my advice to you students who are still there is to enjoy the little things of Penn State as much as you can. The old saying, "You don't know what you've got until it's gone," couldn't be more true.
