To many people taxes are an important issue not because of how much they are paying in taxes, but because certain promises have been made to us about lowering them, ("Problems in Pennsylvania: Tax complaints show lack of priorities," Jan. 26).
On Nov. 5, 2002, The Daily Collegian published an article about what Ed Rendell would promise to do if elected ("Who's who in today's state elections: Ed Rendell, Democrat). One of those promises was to lower property taxes. Property taxes have since gone up.
Another issue in the same article is minimum wage. Rendell promised to keep the minimum wage low to benefit businesses. But recently Rendell and other Democrats demanded that the minimum wage in Pennsylvania be raised ("Democrats demand minimum wage vote," Jan. 24).
It really makes you think. How many more times will the Democratic Party lie?
