Not all PSU fraternities engage in bad behavior

In response to Dustin Yenser's letter, "Fraternity behavior reckless; overshadows all good deeds," Jan. 24, I find it hard to give your argument any credibility because you give no hard examples of how fraternity life is fouling the community. Let's recap: "...a very loud and obscene argument and threats of violence on a street corner within hearing distance of young children." Were the people who were arguing actually wearing fraternity letters? More likely than not they were patrons of the Penn State social community, which tops 40,000 people.

"I've seen a dog chained to a mattress on a porch with no food or water." What does that have to do with anything? Was this at an actual fraternity house? Do you have any proof that the dog starved for any determined amount of time?

"...along with a symbol of women's exploitation painted on a roof. "What was this symbol? A naked body? Engraved slang for female anatomy? If it were so bad, why not elaborate? And was it any more provocative than events that have been sanctioned in the past by the university, such as Sex Faire?

These examples are merely generalizations about perpetuated stereotypes surrounding the Penn State fraternity system, when in fact they are more indicative of the 18-to-23 age group at a party school such as this one.

Don't trash the Penn State greek way of life just because you probably rushed and didn't get a bid to join a fraternity.
