"This is an opportunity for students to come out and talk one-on-one with property managers and realtors," Redfurn said.
Students can come and ask as many questions about items such as joint leases versus individual leases, and utilities, she said.
Although leases will not be available to sign at the fair, a majority of rental offices will offer tours throughout the day, George Conway, vice president of the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments (CCSG), said. He added CCSG and the Off Campus Student Union are sponsoring the event.
"We don't want anyone to feel pressured," Conway said. "We just want students to ask general questions about what they would want their ideal apartment to be."
Holley Dougherty, GN Associates office manager, said in addition to informational packets and floor plans, there would be GN associates on hand to bring interested students to buildings with vacancies, which are currently at The Graduate and EastSide Apartments.
Centre Region Code Administration will also be at the fair providing information on fire safety, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, housing inspector Brian Sampsel said.
Returning to the fair will be associates from Room Doctor, said Tom Meade, the furniture factory outlet's president said.
"We can provide the students with everything they need to outfit their rooms," Meade said. "We will be offering coupons on basic furnishing needs such as futons, bookshelves, tables and mattresses."
If students cannot attend the housing fair, Redfurn encourages them to visit www.sa.psu.edu/ocl, which offers a list of anyone interested in subletting or renting and includes roommate listings. There is a virtual resource, which shows how apartments look.
"We want to make sure a student's experience off campus is as positive as it can be," she said.
