Off-campus living not option for Panhellenic sororities
Phew. Thank goodness Emily Yarbrough had such a good idea about us sorority girls moving into vacant fraternity houses ("Sororities should find homes in vacant fraternity houses," Jan. 24). Why didn't I ever think of that? Oh, wait, maybe it's because I'm too busy being "belligerently drunk" all the time. Before Yarbrough has another brilliant idea (and I use that term extremely loosely), she needs to get her facts straight. We would love to have our own houses, but the university and Panhellenic Council will not allow just one chapter to move off campus. Further, why aren't the dorms meant for greeks? We pay the same per housing spot, we have higher GPAs than non-greek women, we run the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon in addition to our own philanthropies and provide a supportive atmosphere for hundreds of Penn State women.
