Judge arraigns local man for assault

A 35-year-old State College man was arraigned Wednesday in front of District Judge Carmen Prestia on charges of simple assault and harassment and stalking.

Gregory Maurice Johnson is accused of entering the apartment of a woman he knew and punching her several times in the face and ribs. The State College Police Department said he then pushed her to the floor and dragged her.

The woman called 911 and Johnson was located a short distance from the woman's residence on the block of 200 Gerald Street. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held on $10,000 bail.
