Joanne Tosti-Vasey, the president of the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) isn't checking her facts and needs to be called out for it ("Women's group wants Paterno to resign," Jan. 9).
Florida State linebacker A.J. Nicholson was suspended and sent home for violating curfew by having a woman in his room after hours. In this light, Paterno's quote merely points out the lack of judgement on Nicholson's part by allowing the woman into his room.
Like many press releases put out by groups who rely on private donations for funding (and subsequently officer's salaries), Tosti-Vasey is trying to get publicity to boost NOW's coffers.
