NOW chapter should allow Paterno to focus on team
Yesterday, headlines screamed about the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Organization for Women wanting Joe Paterno to resign over comments he made regarding Florida State linebacker A.J. Nicholson's expulsion from the Orange Bowl because of an alleged sexual assault ("Women's group wants Paterno to resign," Jan. 9). I think this is a classic case of these people going way overboard. I read Paterno's comments and did not in any way find what he said to be offensive. I am what some would call a very opinionated, stand-up-for-women's-rights young woman. I also believe that there are two sides to every story. Yes, it is a shame that a young woman possibly suffered some sort of trauma at the hands of Florida State linebacker A.J. Nicholson. But there are two sides to the story. We weren't there, were we? Leave Paterno to do what he does best -- coach one of the most outstanding college football programs in the country. Hats off to him and the entire Nittany Lion team: players, coaches and staff. Elena Tzerefos
