Letter to the Editor
Political correctness takes over Christmas

In response to ("Tree naming creates USG holiday controversy," Dec. 8): Of all the political correctness Penn State puts out, this most recent idiocy has to be one of the worst. A holiday tree? Are we now so politically correct that we can't even say the word "Christmas"? Is it true that we can't put up something and call it what it is? And it is a Christmas tree. For crying out loud people, you live in America. We celebrate Christmas here. f you don't like that, sorry, but it is our freedom to do so and not have to hide it.

On top of this is the utter idiocy of Penn State's double standard. Yesterday's Daily Collegian had a front page article about Hanukkah and a full description of the story behind the menorah. How can we give publicity to one holiday tradition while hiding the fact that we celebrate another? Americans: Do not be ashamed of your Christmas traditions.

Please Penn State, in the name of all that is reasonable, call your Christmas tree a Christmas tree.
