BCS playoff system not without its flaws

I do agree with almost everyone who has said the Bowl Championship Series is flawed ("BCS gives PSU shaft with bowl selection," Dec. 6).

However, let me point out that even if there were a playoff system in place, people would then argue that the ninth-ranked team is better than the eighth-ranked team, and it should be playing instead of another team. What we will end up is with controversy about who should and should not have made the playoffs. How do you know that eight teams are enough? Where do you find the place to play all these extra games?

Also, according to an annual survey released Monday, 27 of 56 schools that ended up in bowl games have graduation rates of less than 50 percent, and this is with a one-game system. Can you imagine how it would be if this were to go on for three or four games? It not only affects athletes; it has a huge impact on the students of those schools.

I know the BCS is flawed, but I don't think playoffs are quite the answer.
