LGBT student groups focus on petty issues
This is in response to what I witnessed on Dec. 1. Listen up Allies, Undertones and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community members: As I sat in Alumni Hall in the HUB-Robeson Center, I was thinking to myself, where were you on World AIDS Day? As someone who identifies as LGBT, and someone who offered to help set up a table and distribute information pertaining to LGBT people and AIDS, I was disappointed. Has women's basketball coach Rene Portland and 18-and-over LGBT night at Players Nite Club become our biggest concern? Did everyone forget this was once called the "gay disease"? Have we forgot the signs that read, "AIDS cures fags"? I think we need to restructure and reorganize in the gay community. We need to get our priorities in order, and take a long hard look in the mirror. We are Penn State, we are not straight, but soon it will just be: We are too late. James Leahy
