Letter to the Editor
Loyalty more than tents, camping out

This is in response to Steven Nadel's letter, "Loyal fans get shaft by new ticket rules," Nov. 30. Since when has Penn State used the number of days someone spends in a tent to determine if he or she is a loyal fan? Allowing students to camp out in Paternoville to get the best seats in the house is different than practically forcing students to spend a week camping out for tickets just to go to the game.

Loyalty should not be defined by willingness to participate in this brand new, ridiculous "tradition" because it is unfair in its own right. Just because you are able to spend a week of your life in the rain and cold does not mean that everyone has that same opportunity.

As seniors, I don't feel any sympathy for your situation. Where were you guys freshman year for the Capital One Bowl lottery?

A simple call Monday morning to the athletic department ticket manager would have garnered you the same response that I received -- that the sale would be take place using a wristband lottery. For all of the time you claim to have put into getting tickets, you sure lacked proper foresight.

Finally, if you're willing to sacrifice your time, health and grades for 10 days, why not guarantee yourself some seats by sacrificing an extra $100 for tickets on eBay?

Go home; you have nothing left to prove. We'll all know who the super fans are when we see the Paternoville T-shirts at the bowl game.
