Loyal fans get shaft by new ticket rules

Penn State is being unfair to its most loyal football fans ("Tickets to be allotted by lottery," Nov. 29).

My friends and I have spent weeks planning the best way to get tickets to the BCS bowl game. We decided to camp out starting Sunday night and wait for the "walk up ticket sales" at the Bryce Jordan Center. When we set up the tent, we were third in line and excited that we were guaranteed tickets.

Now everyone who shows up gets a wristband and they will randomly pick the start of the line. It doesn't matter if you were willing to camp out for a week in 20-degree weather; you can just walk over from your dorm, get a wristband, and sell your ticket to the highest bidder. If they pick number 1,000, the first 999 people there are out of luck.

Penn State should recognize that it has the most loyal fans in the world. If they don't want people camping out, they shouldn't have let all those videos from Paternoville on ESPN. Right or wrong, this has become part of the Penn State tradition.

The athletic department needs to change its policy and let those of us in the tents get our tickets.
