Letter to the Editor
Revised ticket policy better for all involved

I'd just like to point out that August Iorio was mistaken when he said that he would have to skip his 8 a.m. class to get a wristband for his bowl ticket ("Tickets to be allotted by lottery," Nov. 29).

Because the wristbands are given out on a lottery system, it really doesn't matter what wristband you get, you're equally likely to be at the front of the line.

Hypothetically, Iorio shows up at 8 a.m. and gets wristband number 25. They give out 3,000 wristbands, and the next day the number randomly drawn is 1,002 to be the head of the line. Now Iorio is near the back of the line, with over 2,000 people are in front of him. Then again, the number drawn could be 24, and he's second in line.

The Bryce Jordan Center has used the same system for distributing popular concert tickets and it has worked fine and fairly, in my experience.

My point is, don't sweat what number you get, just make sure you go with who you want to sit with to get consecutive numbers, as there's only one ticket per wristband.
