The current manager of Patton Township, Thomas S. Kurtz, was appointed by State College Borough Manager Tom Fountaine as the new assistant manager of the borough, according to a State College press release.

Kurtz said he will begin his new position in the spring of 2006, after his replacement is named. Kurtz will take the position previously held by Ronald A. Davis, who retired as assistant manager of State College in July 2005, according to the press release.

Kurtz said the opportunity was a step upward for his career, and he looks forward to serving the community of State College.

He added that he expects to retire as the assistant manager of the borough after "a good number of years as assistant."
