Surrounding areas great for recreation
While Jessica Hopey's recent column, "Working out in the cold: What to do and how to stay warm," Nov. 22, certainly did a good job of informing readers how to stay warm in winter, the accompanying photos were a little deceiving. These exciting photos featured skiers and ice skaters having a great time while staying warm, but I was hoping the column would also discuss "what to do" once you get bundled up for the winter weather. Many students seem to live in a bubble and don't realize the potential for winter recreation in the surrounding area: hiking, backpacking, downhill and cross-country skiing, and ice skating, just to name a few. I think it would be beneficial to readers if these activities were featured in a future fitness-related column. Dave Matlin
