Woman reports possible sexual assault

A 20-year-old student reported she may have been sexually assaulted sometime after 3 a.m. Saturday in her apartment on the 600 block of College Avenue, the State College Police Department said.

The woman reported that she hosted a party and consumed a large amount of alcohol. Her roommate told police she saw a man attempting to get into bed with the student, police said.

The victim told police she woke up the next morning without her clothes when the same man was trying to get into her bed.

She was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center, police said. The incident is still under investigation.

Professor arrested on threat charges

A State College man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly threatened to slash a woman's throat, State College police said.

Mihai Covasa, 48, of 939 Bayberry Drive, is an assistant professor of nutritional sciences.

He was charged with terroristic threats, harassment and stalking after he allegedly argued with a woman over financial issues, police said.

He was arraigned and released on $1,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.

Man reports vandalism in apartment

A man reported that his apartment at 340 E. Beaver Ave. was vandalized between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday, the State College Police Department said.

His oven door was smashed, a full-length mirror was broken, a coffee table was damaged and ketchup was sprayed on the walls and ceilings. Police said there was no forced entry, and they have no damage estimate at this time.
