Krauss concert pleases true country music fans
I was taken aback by Paul Thompson's review of Thursday's concert ("Heavenly Voice not enough," Nov. 18". I have to ask, is he familiar with Alison Krauss? Or country music? If so, then I am surprised by his surprise of the type of concert it was. She has a very different sound; although some of her stuff is modern and pop country, she mainly sticks to an older, bluegrass sound to which most students are not accustomed. The majority of the crowd was older, so it is no wonder that there was little jumping up and cheering. If he reviews Brad Paisley in December, I guarantee he will experience a much different atmosphere. As for the "banter," those around me seemed to laugh even more as it went on rather than falling asleep. And I cannot tell you how many toes and fingers I saw tapping throughout the show as well as those singing along to the slower songs. Thompson doesn't seem to enjoy country music, so I suggest having someone who actually enjoys the music critique it. Carrie McCabe
