Negativity in columns not good approach
Thomas Mei's column on Penn State pride is laughable, given all the topics he has tried to preach to us about throughout the semester ("PSU pride should continue through thick and thin." Nov. 16). To start the year off with a bang, Mei wrote his first column bashing virtually everything he could about University Park, despite most of the factors being well within his control. He declared he was not one to wear Penn State paraphernalia around and said, "I don't even think State College is that great." Mei then complained about our sub-par non-conference football opponents and how he had to sit because the sun was too much for him. This does not sound like someone who is qualified to tell us anything about what Penn State pride is. The student body has had enough of Mei's poorly-argued sermonizing on racism, apathy, homophobia or even Penn State pride, where in every article he manages to put everyone down in doing so. Perhaps when writing future columns, Mei should try a more constructive approach, instead of arguing against his audience each week. Gary Ezekian
