Students have voice in Spanier's salary
We are... broke. So now we know why Penn State "invests" in hotels, convention arenas, law schools and mass marketing -- it's to subsidize a president who makes almost $500,000 per year, with our hard-earned money ("Publication releases Spanier's salary," Nov. 14). Give me a break. Hey college students, start studying the word "socialism." If the shareholders of the university, us taxpayers, had any say in this man's immoral salary, the board wouldn't let this happen. Not to mention the ventures this university is in that compete with the private sector, such as building hotels and arenas. Don't cry when tuition goes up over 5 percent per year and wonder why two parents have to work to pay 50 percent of their pay in taxes. Get involved in reducing the size of government. Andrew Nelson
