NEWS

Despite a recent national survey showing a slight increase in first-time international graduate enrollment across the country, Penn State's numbers have suffered, according to Graduate School administrators.

Jimm Dolak is 22, but he still wears his favorite light green, American Eagle polo shirt on important test days when he needs a little extra comfort.

Small streams of pedestrians wove through the Beaver Avenue and Allen Street intersection Monday evening beneath eight new pedestrian signals State College Borough workers installed last week.

The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate passed legislation last night to applaud Penn State's football team and the recently elected local officials.

SPORTS

The Penn State men's swimming and diving team got its first taste of intense competition this past weekend at the University of Virginia. The Nittany Lions lost to national powers Virginia and Auburn by scores of 187-166 and 217-125, respectively. The one win came against conference foe Purdue, 188-165.

At the conclusion of last Saturday's 5-4 win against Ohio, there was a slightly different sight as players from both teams lined up to congratulate each other.

The cold and rain did not stop the soccer players from reporting to the practice they didn't have to attend.

When mixed well, talent and teamwork can combine to overcome inexperience. A young but driven men's club volleyball team willed its way to a third-place finish at this weekend's Spartan "Back to the Hardwood" Classic at Michigan State.

Normally, fans support the athletes -- yesterday that role was reversed.

A graveyard is something that is seen as desolate and depressing, not a place for fun and frolicking. But if you live near the Juniata Golf Course in Northeast Philadelphia, the idea of kids yelling and screaming in a burial ground wouldn't seem that foreign.

At his weekly press conference yesterday, Joe Paterno was slightly intrigued after hearing his team's updated Bowl Championship Series ranking.

This week, Penn State women's volleyball head coach Russ Rose has watched his team change before his eyes.

As the lone senior on the Penn State women's club hockey team, Lauren Johnston has become a role model for her young teammates. But had fate taken a different course, she might have never stepped foot on the ice as a Lady Icer.

The day started early, with Penn State Director of Communications and Branding Guido D'Elia unlocking the doors to Penn State's locker room so the area could be set up for a day of filming.

Don't be afraid to toss a fake limb or two on stage tonight at the Crowbar -- Reel Big Fish (RBF) will be more than ready for it.

While the name Osama often brings images of terrorist Osama bin Laden to mind, the film Osama actually depicts the life of a 12- year-old girl trying to survive under the regime of the Taliban.

Allen Street Grill, 100 W. College Ave., will feature Domenick Swentosky (231-4745).
