Nittany Lions' Weimer wins Top Drawer award

After breaking several Big Ten records and tying an NCAA mark, Penn State senior striker Tiffany Weimer has earned Top Drawer Soccer's Player of the Year. Weimer has scored 28 goals and racked up 60 points this season while helping the Lions to a 21-0-1 record and the program's first ever No. 1 ranking earlier this season.

On the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy watchlist after finishing as last year's runner-up for player of the year, Weimer exploded again this season, scoring at least one goal in each of the Lions' first 17 games to tie the NCAA record. The senior forward's 87 career goals is the new Big Ten record, breaking 2001 Hermann Trophy winner Christie Welsh's conference mark. Weimer's 11 gamewinners are a new Big Ten season record as is her 28-goal tally this year.

A two-time first team NSCAA All-America selection, Weimer has 205 career points, which ranks second to Welsh's 216 in the Big Ten's all-time annals. Weimer has garnered 13-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors during her career including four this season.

The Connecticut-native has been a unanimous selection for first team All-Big Ten accolades the past three years.
