Liberals lack ability think for themselves
"The real travesty is that conservatives who feel this way are too ignorant to think for themselves," Jim Coder said in his attack on Young Americans for Freedom President Shauna Moser ("Conservatives unable to articulate ideas," Nov. 14). Apparently he doesn't really care about more than what he is told by his professors and musicians,, and it is evident that he has not been a "freethinker" in a while. Here's a leg up for Jim: A hypocrite is a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he does not hold. Freethinking is a term that should be used to describe what you do when you have ideas different from the norm. At Penn State, instructors for the most part (with exception in math classes) are eager to put their political spin on everything they teach, be it subtle or blatant. A large majority of Penn State instructors are liberal and express their political feelings in class. I have no problem with them being liberal, but I do have a problem with the way they bash conservatism every time a conservative idea is discussed. This doesn't help anything but the further alienation of conservative students. If Jim is such a "free-thinker," perhaps he should try straying from such a liberal cookie-cutter statement and get some of his own ideas. Mark Clairmont
