YAF group alienates conservatives at PSU

I am a conservative in support of President Bush and the war on terror. On campus, it is difficult to find a group that has the same political beliefs that I do, except for Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) and College Republicans. The problem is that these two organizations are way out of touch with the conservative students on campus and alienate those individuals, like me, who may not be extremely conservative.

I applaud YAF's support for our troops and their "Freedom Week," but I wish that I would have known about these events so I could also show my support. The problem is that every time I have gone to a YAF or College Republican meeting or event the only thing I hear is complaining. My advice to YAF Social Chair Erika Utz, who said she was disappointed at the vigil's turnout ("YAF ends 'Freedom Week' with vigil for soldiers," Nov. 14), is to have her organization stop being so negative.
