PSU ruins investigation by using Facebook site
I am incredibly disappointed with the Penn State Police Services for using Facebook.com to further their investigations on the students who rushed the field (either on purpose or by accident) at the Ohio State game ("Site used to aid investigations," Nov. 10). Although I don't agree that rushing the field was the best idea, I certainly don't believe that it is worth the violation of perceived privacy to hunt these people down. I know that everything on the Internet is up for grabs, and if this were a case where students rioted or if someone were seriously injured or killed, I'd have no qualms with the police tracking down those who participated by any means possible. But let's face it: The only thing seriously injured was a fence and the field. Not only have the police ruined a possible route of investigation for a crime that might deserve attention, but they are also overreacting to a situation that was mishandled in the first place. Normally I support the police in their decisions to make Happy Valley a safer place, but this time they have taken their authority way too far. Jessica Goedtel
