Student cheers lack traditional PSU class

As a freshman, I couldn't be happier about the outcome of my first Penn State football season. I couldn't have asked for more than an undefeated season at home.

However, next season I want to see a change in some of the chants coming from the student section. After both Wisconsin touchdowns on Saturday, the student section began chanting "F---Wisconsin."

As Penn State students, we should hold ourselves to higher standards. When we proudly sing the alma mater, we say, " May no act of ours bring shame." In front of both visiting fans and proud alumni, we should be ashamed at some of the things coming from our section.

Next season, before you feel the need too start an inappropriate chant, ask yourself, what would Joe Paterno do? Yes, JoePa might direct a few insults at the referees, but he would never participate in any of these chants.
