Bush administration effectively leads U.S.
I am writing in response to Kate Ericsson's column about President Bush ("Unfortunate events reveal Bush's true ineptitude," Nov. 7). I am angered at her libelous comments and representation of President Bush and his actions. Particularly, Ericsson comments on his "image of leadership."
Perhaps she should assess what the standards of good leadership are and how these have been present in the previous administration. By her definition of leadership we are to qualify Clinton as an outstanding leader, which is quite far from the truth. She also comments on President Bush's inability to "grasp the seriousness" of the recent hurricanes. Last time I checked, the human race has not perfected extra-sensory perception so it is complete drivel to even suggest that President Bush could not realize the magnitude of the situation.
Ericsson should also consider the source of her poll data. It comes from ABC and The Washington Post -- two bodies that will waste no opportunity to promote liberal ideals and opinions. Such disparaging statistics about President Bush would be expected from the audience to which these two sources cater.
Lastly, on the validity of the war in Iraq, she directly implies that it was not worth ridding the world of one of the most heinous dictators it has ever seen and freeing the people whom suffered under his regime. To say this is to disregard all of the efforts of our brave troops fighting for her right to write her column. Ericsson should consider what she says before actually speaking to avoid future embarrassment.
